A neighbor girl faces charges after a confrontation that left a local girl injured. Police report the attack occurred in the afternoon near the residence on Elm Street. The victim sought medical treatment and provided a statement to investigators.
Lorenz Puffinberger, 30, living near the West Virginia line in Northern Frederick County, was jailed in Winchester on a criminal assault charge after Miss Hilda Hovermale, 16, identified him despite soot on his face. The attack occurred as she walked from Omps orchard toward her home, leaving her in shock and under medical care. The grand jury may hear the case tomorrow.
