Entomologist W. J. Schoene reports widespread weevil and grain moth damage to stored foods in Virginia. He urges cleanliness, thorough bin cleaning, removal of last year’s grain, and fumigation with carbon disulphid for 24 hours to reduce losses from pests in wheat corn and beans.
Local Democrats are urged to attend an October 18 meeting addressed by Congressman T. W. Harris. The notice calls on party members to participate and hear the political remarks.
In Towson Walter Socolow faces murder charges for Norris’s August 18 killing. Harry Wolf is indicted for conspiracy to obstruct justice linked to the Hicks Tase Norris payroll case. Allers testified, naming Socolow as Norris’s killer. Keller and Socolow are cited in the indictment.
The naval court at the Naval Academy in Annapolis adjourned because the defense for Bruce Robinson of Chandler Arizona was not ready to proceed. The court is expected to reconvene tomorrow for the hazing trial of several midshipmen.

In Frederick County Circuit Court two men Densel M. Armel and Holmes Butler pleaded guilty in a liquor law violation case after grand jury indictments. Each received 60 days on the state roads and a $50 fine plus costs. Liquor seized at Middletown was poured out under court order. Sheriff Pannett oversaw the pouring and a Ford car linked to Armel, used by Butler, awaits sheriff sale after a lien satisfaction.
Mrs Francis Stevens Hall and her brother Willy Stevens were brought to the New Brunswick courthouse by Detective Ford David after 11 am as authorities continue to investigate the murder of the Rev Edward Wheeler and Mrs Eleanor Reinhardt Mills.
