A 909 pair telephone cable was laid in an underground duct in Fairfax Lane from the Sarah Zane fire hall to National Ave. The 9000 pound reel was shipped from a Western Electric plant and placed under the Cameron St intersection. Supervisor James Anderson and foreman Bob Hickman led the crew attracting spectators. The installation will relieve service in eastern city areas around National Ave starting January 1.
