In St Louis on October 16 the House of Deputies rejected a proposed canon to bar remarriage after divorce for any cause, due to clerical and lay discord. Clergy approved 40 to 12 while lay delegates voted 29 to 34 against, keeping current church law intact.
An infant of Mr. and Mrs. James A Dicks born Saturday died this morning at their home 617 South Kent Street. Funeral will be held tomorrow with Rev John McVerry of the Church of the Sacred Heart officiating.
Dr J Earl Noonan, a San Antonio veterinary officer, sent $10 to The Star campaign fund boosting total donations to $266 as supporters back President Wilson in the Democratic national drive.
The secret service issued a warning about a dangerous counterfeit ten dollar bill from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. An official bulletin states that even money experts may be deceived by the note and warns the public to be vigilant.
John H. Parker Progressive vice presidential candidate denounced Theodore Roosevelt in a Biltmore Hotel speech and urged voters to support President Wilson in the upcoming reelection appeal. He appealed to supporters nationwide to vote their honest convictions for Wilson and noted Progressive presence from across the country.
Judge T. W. Harrison of Winchester launches his Seventh Virginia district bid in Rockingham county with a rally in Harrisonburg Assembly Hall. United States Senator Thomas S. Martin also speaks. Harrison plans Bridgewater and Broadway appearances this week with more stops likely. John Paul visits Standardsville Greene county and Dayton, then plans a Winchester speech and visits Warren and Page counties.
President Wilson states in a public letter that the national guard cannot be withdrawn. He argues the emergency at the Mexican border persists and the militia is needed to repel invasion, with the troops delivering high quality service. Governor Whitman had urged sending home the remaining New York troops.

Jacob Robinson a prominent farmer from Waterlock Warren county died suddenly of paralysis on Friday at age 73. He was a lifelong resident and farmer. Funeral services were led by Rev. Mr. Jacobs with burial at Waterlick. Survived by widow Bettie, two daughters Mrs. Walter Funk of Marlboro and Mrs. Annie Ridenour of Strasburg, Va., and five sons Philip, George, James, Waller and Mack, all of Waterlick.
Rosa Roe died at her Gainesboro home after a brief illness aged 40. She was the first Adams family member to die, survived by husband Silas Roe, three children, her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Funeral held at 11 this morning with burial at Chestnut Grove graveyard.

Judge Henry W. Holt of the eighteenth circuit arrives in Winchester from Staunton to chair the October term of the Corporation Court. A special grand jury will hear the Commonwealth v William Palmer, charged with shooting his wife Irene Jennings Palmer with intent to kill. Palmer plans to plead guilty. No petit jury is being summoned. aim is to finish by Tuesday afternoon so Holt may return to Staunton.
Mr and Mrs William Wilt of Rippon Jefferson County West Virginia announce the marriage of their daughter Blanche Wilt to Mr William Lewis Burks. The ceremony will be at 7 oclock Wednesday evening November 1 at the Baptist Church in Charlestown West Virginia. Miss Wilt is sister of Mrs Harry Moffatt and has many friends in the city. Joseph Keys of Sterling, Loudoun, learned his wife died in Staunton. A casket arrived, funeral held, then a face revealed as a stranger. Hospital officials said it was Mrs Keys, but investigation found two women of that name died the same day. Bodies were swapped and later corrected.
