The Rev John D Hamaker longtime pastor emeritus of the Strasburg Church of the Disciples of Christ died in Winchester Memorial Hospital after an emergency operation. Born January 1 1847 in Snowville Va he served in the Confederate Army and later ministered in Bristol Wytheville Snowville and finally Strasburg where he led the church for 35 years. He was active in the United Confederate Veterans Masons and other groups and lived in Strasburg for the last six years.
