Home Fire Destroys Green Spring House and Damages White Post Firm
A Green Spring residence on Mountain Road was destroyed by fire this morning after alarms at 8 45 a m. Neighbors reported the blaze as flames spread through downstairs rooms and the kitchen, with two outbuildings saved. No one was home during the outbreak. In White Post the Larrick Equipment Co suffered heavy damage after a fire reported by a passing truck driver around 4 30 a m. Firemen fought the blaze for hours and saved an attached frame storehouse. machinery and a truck outside were damaged. The cause in both cases remains undetermined, with furnace work cited in one Clarke County fire. The Boyce and Berryville companies assisted. A separate chimney fire near Boyce caused no damage. Three IRA Bomb Makers Die In Self Inflicted Blasts
In Belfast three young IRA bomb makers died when their devices exploded at the end of a violence filled day in Northern Ireland. Five others were killed and a man wounded as authorities reported. Judge Robert Staunton, 40, was shot three times while driving through Falls Church after dropping his children at school. He survived emergency surgery and is in satisfactory condition. It was noted as the second assassination attempt on a public official after William Craig, a Protestant militant leader and former Ulster minister, escaped injury last week.
