Expansion Approved For Warren Memorial Hospital Plan
The Lord Fairfax Planning District Commission approved the amended certificate of need for Warren Memorial Hospital’s expansion. The project costs about 4.45 million plus site costs, reduces licensed beds from 123 to 111, and shifts to an industrial bond issue. It includes upgrading 13 departments and adding six support services while converting 40 Lynn Care Center beds to nursing home beds. State Health Department head Dr. Mack Shanholtz must approve beds beyond Hill Burton limits, aided by the Luray Nursing Home’s closing freeing 23 beds. The certificate of need moves to the State Health Planning Council for November approval before Shanholtz signs.
