Nixon Favorite of GOP Leaders in AP Poll
Former Vice President Richard Nixon tops a nationwide Associated Press survey of 50 state GOP chairmen and national committee members as their preferred 1968 presidential nominee. Rockefeller and Reagan were cited as the strongest potential ticket. Nixon-Reagan followed. The poll shows Reagan strong for vice president and Romney as a rival to Rockefeller, with regional support for Nixon and mixed views on primaries and convention delegates.
