Wallace Tinsman Survives Two Wounds in Korea
Wallace A. Tinsman, 19, is alive after sustaining two wounds in Korea. His sister, Mrs. Bessie Austin of Hayfield, said a corrected report informed the family that he survived after a August wound and a later slight wound reported October 2. A Martinsburg native, he long served in Korea with a unit under General Dean and was among 25 survivors of a group of 80 Americans who escaped encirclement after a three day trek.
