Soldier Dies of Influenza at Memorial Hospital
The third U S soldier to die from influenza passed away this afternoon at Memorial Hospital. Howard Wise, from Huntington Pa arrived with his mother Mrs Lloyd who was with him at death. Wise had been helping harvest apples with a Camp Lee unit and fell ill about a week ago.

Miss Hardy Dies at Advanced Age in Staunton
Miss Martha Hardy, long part of Winchester society, died in Staunton Virginia after a long illness at about 73. She was daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Hardy of the city. The body was brought by her sister Mrs Mary Brown and Miss Ella Brown to his home on South Washington Street for funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev J M Richardson of Brad Street Methodist Episcopal Church South. Burial will be in Mount Hebron. She leaves a brother William H Hardy and sisters Mrs Brown of Staunton and Mrs Hattie Grim of Kernstown plus many nephews and nieces.
