Admiral Byrd Honored at Gloucester Point Dedication
The late Adm Richard E Byrd Winchester native and polar pioneer was honored at a Virginia Institute of Marine Science dedication ceremony for a new half million dollar science building named after him. Gov Mills Godwin and U S Sen Harry Byrd Jr spoke praising Byrd and the era of sea exploration.
