Motorist Given Jail Sentence And Fined $112
Lohrwood Foreman of 1211 Valley Ave was fined 55.25 for reckless driving 17.25 for disorderly conduct 12.25 for improper registration and 27.25 for driving while suspended. He received a 10 day jail term for the latter offense after arrest on Sunday evening by Lt. Joseph Ritter and Officer Robert Lowery.

Chairman Claude Smalts Jr says the committee backs Thomas L Woodward and associates of Suffolk to form Winchester City Transit Lines and seeks first and second readings with final approval possibly October 12. Fire alarms rang twice yesterday evening with no property damage. The first call, at 6 05, reported a chimney blaze at Miss Katherine Kern 304 Amherst Street. The second, about thirty minutes later, came from Mrs R R Whitacre 103 S Bradrock Street for a fire across from her home at the new American store site. The blaze was confined to trash at the front of the building, likely started by a knocked over warning lantern.
