About 2,000 Filipinos rallied at Clark Air Base in the Philippines to denounce base policies and the base commander Col. Ernest Pate. The protest followed a curfew set by U S authorities after incidents in Angeles and nearby areas, including shootings and muggings. The curfew has reduced local revenue.
Tomorrow is the last day for Winchester residents to register for the November elections. City Registrar Mrs. Robert M. Grim will register voters in the City Council Chamber at Rouss City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Patchy frost is forecast tonight with a low of 35 to 40 degrees, and a cool day ahead with a warmer Sunday.
State Police said a car and a tractor trailer collided near Cross Roads Grocery on Route 522. Driver David D. Baker and trucker Jack Donald Ray suffered minor injuries. Ray was treated and released from Winchester Memorial Hospital. The crash caused total vehicle damage and substantial truck damage.

In Saigon a new surge of heavy fighting near the Cambodian border left 15 dead and 44 wounded among government troops. A U.S. helicopter ferrying ammo was shot down, with four Americans killed and two wounded. An earlier collision near Hue killed 24 Americans aboard a Chinook and a Caribou, with no survivors.
