Bonus moves set aside by legion committee
The American Legion committee on legislation voted down five state resolutions demanding immediate payment of the bonus. In convention the Legion strengthened rules barring officials from political participation. Delegates nearly unanimously supported a constitutional amendment to limit political activity by ex service members. Miami, Florida, was chosen to host the 1934 convention.

James W. Thompson, about 65, died at 3 o'clock this morning at Memorial Hospital from infected face and pneumonia. Unmarried, he lived in Berryville serving at the Bat tletown Inn pool room and has resided with Forrest Kackley in Berryville recently. The Winchester City Council, in a special meeting, will not sell the remaining delinquent properties now but gives until January 1 to reach settlements with City Treasurer W A Baker.
