Red Cross Chapter Formed in Frederick County
A new Frederick and Winchester County Red Cross chapter was formally organized last night with by laws adopted and officers elected. Rev. Dr. W. D. Smith is chairman and J. Crosby McCarthy treasurer with an executive committee including H. B. McCormac and Dr. J. L. Whitlock among others. Ten teams will canvass the county to raise 15000 dollars, led by captains W. S. White, H. B. McCormac, R. Williams, and others. Headquarters opened at Dr. Dutton’s Water Street office with a women’s duty committee to run the front desk. The first meeting is set for 8 o’clock Thursday night at the headquarters.

The event featured Cadets from Shenandoah Valley Academy and Fort Loudoun Seminary, and pledges from the faculty, schools, and local organizations as the drive moved toward a 15 000 target.

Dr. P W Boyd performed the operation and Mr Smith, once recovered, could return to duties at the county treasurer's office. Gore merchant pleads guilty to liquor possession
William B. Adams of Gore, Frederick County, admitted violating state prohibition by keeping seven quarts of liquor in his store room. Judge Whiting fined him 75 dollars and jailed him 30 days but suspended the jail term due to Dr. Charles R. Anderson’s testimony that confinement would harm his health.

Improper Man-on-Jury Disturbance Near Frederick Court

Red Cross profits from Winchester High School Star Course
Last night at the auditorium Professor N D Cool offered on behalf of Winchester High School the proceeds from the Star Course entertainments to the Red Cross fund. The plan faced questions but the school voted to support the Red Cross with the proceeds. Previously Radcliffe Bureau guarantor C Vernon Eddy proposed the idea, but rules required full proceeds to the Red Cross, so the event was placed under the high school and will benefit the Winchester and Frederick County chapter. Pupils hope to raise a hundred dollars or more for the cause.

Third Contingent of Boys Head to Camp Lee for Training
