Frederick William Holliday born Winchester February 22 1828, after Yale and UVA studied law he joined the Confederate Army rising to command the 33rd Virginia Infantry. Wounded at Cedar Run 1862 he lost his right arm and served in the Confederate Congress until war end. Elected governor in 1877 he settled the state debt under the McCulloch bill, died May 29 1889 and is buried in Mt. Hebron cemetery.
