Viet Cong forces bombarded and overran parts of Bo Duc district headquarters as jet fighters hit back. South Vietnamese reported 65 enemy bodies and 15 soldiers killed with 19 wounded. Simultaneous shelling hit a government outpost and a U S Special Forces camp.
A Corporation Court jury deliberates in the case of Robert Edward Cornell, 24, charged with arson in the Virginia Aerosol, Inc. fire last Dec. 1. The Commonwealth seeks the maximum 10 years. defense counsel seeks acquittal. Evidence concluded yesterday, with instructions and closing arguments to follow.
A weather note predicts snow or sleet tomorrow with cold temperatures. Tonight’s low should dip into the mid to upper 20s, following a 25 degree reading last night. For the next five days temperatures are expected to average normal to five degrees below with a chance of weekend precipitation.
Harold M. Bageant of the Saran Zane Fire Co. was reelected director of the Apple Blossom Firemen's Parade. The planning session at the George Washington Hotel drew 50 to 60 representatives from Winchester and Frederick County fire companies.

The family refuses to emerge from the shuttered house as utilities are cut and school absences trigger legal action citing possible religious freedom issues.
Frederick County Board of Supervisors adopts a resolution for a joint executive meeting with the Department of Public Welfare before the next regular meeting on December 11. Supervisor Luttrell requests a general administration probe. Commonwealth Attorney Massie questions basis, suggesting state level inquiry as alternative. Continued on page 10.
Dewey Arthur Carpenter Jr., 36, indicted for the murder of Violet Lynn Sherman, 63, scheduled to appear in Berkeley County Circuit Court to decide extradition. Sherman died after Oct 3 injuries at Winchester Memorial Hospital. Carpenter, a part time painter, was jailed and moved from Newton D. Baker VA Hospital.
