Shenandoah Box Board Corporation may close its Winchester plant after a sale to Kreckhofer Container Company of Delair New Jersey. About 75 workers could lose jobs unless the plant remains in operation. Chester Bell urges keeping a box plant to supply local needs and cites cider and vinegar firms and other local users of cases. The sale is expected to close in a week or ten days.
A Winchester survey shows nearly all grocery and meat merchants will close Thursday November 29 in observance of the national holiday. Some stores remain noncommittal, but officials hope they will conform. Housewives are urged to stock up Wednesday to tide them over.

Woodstock Va November 27 Peter J Cook 79 farmer of Edith Powell's Fort Valley Shenandoah county is dead and James A Smith 64 farmer and former Bedford county justice of the peace is held for murder. The quarrel began over a discarded lard can tossed between farms. Smith fired three shots after saying he feared harm. The elder Cook was fatally wounded. Luther Cook escaped unharmed. Alma Walker, recently arrested at Danville, aided federal agents by naming Winchester as a runner for a counterfeit ring based in Tenafly New Jersey. She and Charles Baer were charged with passing counterfeit money and faced Treasury officials as raids uncovered a plant alleged to have circulated vast sums, with Walker admitting activity in multiple southern cities.
