Large groups press through Winchester as marchers advance toward Washington. The east west U S Route 50 is cited as favored corridor for the demonstration.
The National Committee of Unemployed Councils sent a telegram to Mayor George Henderson demanding free food and lodging for hunger marchers en route to petition Congress for winter relief. The city armory is urged for housing, with no reply from the mayor, as a local meeting and council hearing are planned to press the demand.
Chief Hollis announced that large hungry marchers heading to Washington for the opening of Congress may pass through Winchester as long as they remain peaceful and keep moving. He warned the police will not allow camping or provide food shelter or transportation.
Dinner is planned at the Lee Jackson Lunch Room on Sunday November 27 priced at 50 cents. Reservations or inquiries may be directed by calling 1174 J.
Herman H. Hable owner of Hable's Palace Theatre will host a free Christmas morning program for Winchester children and nearby communities on December 26. The event features a short film program, gifts of toys candy and fruit, with Santa Claus in attendance and no charge for attendees. Last year 1 771 children and parents attended with 8 cases of oranges 1 500 toys and 350 pounds of candy distributed.
Maryland game deputies increase presence to enforce duck bag limits. E Lee LeCompte reports many violations of the federal daily bag limit of 15 ducks, superseding the state limit of 25. In the first three days eight hunters were arrested and referred to the U S court for heavier penalties.

NORFOLK Va Nov 26 Identity of three men reported lost with the wreck of the fishing smack Rappahannock was made known today. They were J W a of Weems master craft of the smack Carroll aoetestone Va and W H Reeves of Whitestone. The Rappahannock capsized at Smith Point in Chesapeake bay. The three men aboard are supposed to have been swept overboard.
Winchester Memorial Hospital received donations from several congregations on Thanksgiving. Miss Lillian Anderson noted gifts of cash and provisions, including $75 from Christ Episcopal Church Millwood and $69 from Braddock Street Methodist. Provisions and cash support will fund hospital furnishings and other needs.
Representative Snell said after a conference with President Hoover that the President’s recommendations will cut right to the bone, signaling deep federal appropriations reductions. The remarks came in Washington as Hoover outlined proposed cuts.
DECATUR Illinois Nov. 26 The homes of three miners members of the United Mine Workers of America were bombed early today with no injuries reported. Extensive damage to houses and broken windows across several blocks.
Charles J. Himelright a retired farmer from the Wheatfield area of Shenandoah County died at 1 20 PM today at the home of his daughter Mrs Clarence Clowser on Fairview Avenue where he had been ill since July 1 His health had declined over the last year and a summer move to be near his physician did not check the illness He was about 70 years old and had spent most of his life in Wheatfield engaged in farming Surviving relatives include his widow three sons Melvin Leonard and Clyde and three daughters Mrs Clarence Clowser Mrs Kathleen Krienelmier and Mrs Hyla Mowery Also surviving are two brothers and a sister Funeral arrangements are expected to be set tonight or tomorrow morning.
Funeral services were conducted in Martinsburg West Virginia for Samuel Weston Gillam 62 a construction engineer who died after an illness of bronchial asthma Burial took place at Rosedale Cemetery He is survived by widow two daughters Ellen and Mrs L D B Miller and a son Paul Gillam all of Martinsburg Gillam formerly of Armstrong County Pennsylvania lived in Martinsburg 14 years and worked as a construction engineer for brick plants including Unit ed Clay Products North Mountain Continental Clay Products on Charles Town road and Hudson Brick Company with offices in Washington
Three youths from Martinsburg West Virginia are jailed on theft charges after a ham oranges and potted meat were found and linked to a missing stock from the National Park Restaurant storeroom. Lantz Willard Jess Willard and Walter Rees deny theft and await a police court hearing Monday.

Clayton G. Miller 57 a bank official and prominent Church of God layman died suddenly at his home. He was vice president and secretary of Citizens' Trust Co and held multiple church positions including treasurer of the general eldership and director of the publication house. Survived by his widow and four children.
President elect Roosevelt prepared to meet a National Grange delegation and House agriculture committee members at Warm Springs Georgia to discuss agricultural relief plans. The talks aim to craft a relief program for Congress. no details were disclosed.
Dr. Francis L. Patton, former president of Princeton University from 1888 to 1902, died at King Edward VII Hospital in Hamilton Bermuda after a short illness. He would have turned 90 in January and later led Princeton Theological Seminary for 11 years before retiring to Bermuda, where he was born in 1842.
