Youthful Fliers In a Baby Plane Forced Down
Two young pilots in a two cylinder baby aircraft aimed at South America were forced to land at Fullerton Maryland due to rain and low visibility. Edward Wingerter 25 and Joseph Jones 19 left Caldwell New Jersey in a 28 horsepower craft carrying eight gallons of gas. They planned to reach Baltimore for the night and landed en route at New Castle Delaware. An air mail plane piloted by Merle Northrup was forced down near Elkton Maryland but resumed its flight to Baltimore after about a half hour delay.
