The Frederick County School Board granted a 12 day holiday for teachers and students to celebrate Yale season this year. Superintendent Leslie D. Kline announced the break will start Wednesday evening December 23 and run until Monday January. The board also granted rights of way to the State Highway Department for Route 7 at Gainesboro and Route 11 at Branson. In exchange the department will build a high fence and gates to protect students at both schools.

Memorial marker honors Captain Shatteen Mitchell at Stonewall Cemetery
Mrs. W. W. Brookes of Atlanta unveiled a Georgia marble stone in the Stonewall Memorial Cemetery to honor Capt. Shatten Claude Mitchell of Co I 13th Ga.
