U S officials consider making representations to Italy after a Padua riot targeting Americans. Breckinridge Long said further probe could prompt action. Two Mayo Clinic couples reported tires slashed, flags torn from a car with British plates, amid hooting students. the women faced terror but were unharmed.
Scout officials attending the executive meeting in Woodstock are to gather at Handley Library at 5 30 p m. sharp. Transportation is arranged for those without cars. The program should start promptly at 6 30 p m with all participants on hand by 5 30 p m to avoid delaying the program at Woodstock.
Bennett Y. Ryan, son of a New York publisher, was convicted in Cambridge of assault and battery against Frank Foster, a 67-year-old Harvard janitor. Foster, frail and weighing about 100 pounds, was knocked down during a demonstration after a Harvard football game on October 25. He faces sentencing later.
Mr Winchester warns a fire may cost a life and money urging steps to prevent fires as furnaces are used more. He stresses cleaning furnaces before use and careful handling of ashes, noting reckless disposal risks. The message aims to reduce fires despite cold winds.

A Greyhound passenger coach slid off the right side of a snow and ice coated mountain road on Blue Ridge west of Paris Fauquier county about 9 am. Drivers and motorists reported many aboard, but no injuries. Workmen dug out the bus and chains were to be used to regain the road. The bus had been traveling from Washington on its regular schedule.
Frederick County adopts financing plan to build a county market and store room and enlarge the clerk’s office vault using existing funds and anticipated Virginia ABC revenues. The proposal, not to raise taxes, envisions completing the program in three to five years. A special election is set for Tuesday, December 3.
Oneida New York November 23 Morris Messenger 22 and his sister Leona 20 were injured when their car dropped from an overhead crossing onto railroad tracks and were killed minutes later by a New York Central passenger train near Oneida.
A. J. Weaver of New Market who runs a hotel there suffered a fractured leg and possible internal injuries after a car struck him yesterday. The driver was Rev. Frank Tyler of Baltimore. Details were unavailable. Rev Tyler is a well known Southern Methodist clergyman with many friends in this Virginia region.
Freezing north winds halted holiday plans as President Roosevelt visited Warm Springs Georgia. The day featured a planned plunge in the 90 degree outdoor pool at the Warm Springs Foundation, painting a scene of a relaxed Saturday afternoon away from work.
In Lincoln Massachusetts a speeding freight train was stopped by state police about 50 yards from an overturned car at Baker's bridge. The unconscious driver Hugh Miller age 23 of Concord was found in the wreck and listed as critically hurt.

Mrs Frances Loring was questioned for the third time by police investigating the death of her daughter Miss Corinna Loring 26 of Mt Rainier. Corinna was slain two days before her planned marriage to Robert Tear and disappearance on November 4. Detective Lt Itzel led the inquiry and did not disclose the nature of questions. Terts suggested she had named a man prior to meeting Tear.
Gov George C Peery’s special committee studying Virginia old age assistance costs reported figures for 65 and 70 year age limits. With 65 as limit costs range from 2,561,456 to 11,376,720 dollars. with 70, costs run from 1,465,444 to 6,484,680 dollars. Differences reflect Roosevelt-era economic security projections versus seven states’ 1934 experiences exceeding one million dollars.
Greenville area in Augusta county approves a rectangular highway sign for U S 11 directing left turn. The sign promotes a three lane northbound route to historical sites including battlefields Skyline Drive caverns with community funders listed at bottom. Costs are not yet determined as Staunton Winchester and other cities fund it.
Vera Cruz dispatches report Hermelinda Rendon a teacher at Chautamingo village was mutilated and killed by a group of men for teaching Socialist education. The incident is dated November 23 and reflects unrest in the region related to ideological clashes and anti socialist sentiment among local groups.

Police found a damaged safe with its bottom chiseled out in a wooded outskirts area of Baltimore. It was under examination for fingerprints, and investigators believe the safe was stolen in Washington as fragments of a Washington newspaper lay nearby.

Frederick Williamson, 35, of 4510 Roland Avenue Baltimore, was reported today in serious condition at Casualty Hospital after his plane fell into a field near Beltsville Maryland while he was en route to Washington for a private pilot license examination.
