Shenandoah Valley Pike to be widened into forty foot road
Virginia officials plan a forty foot paved highway with an eighty foot right of way from the West Virginia line to Tennessee line along the Shenandoah Valley pike. Chairman Henry G. Shirley said the project aims to make the route a major north south motor corridor, requiring about 10 million dollars for rebuilding. The valley pike, built a century ago, was funded by state and localities and now stands with a 25 foot paved bed and a forty foot right of way.
