About 3,000 pounds of federal relief salt pork sent to Staunton was found tainted and destroyed on Dr. J. Fairfax Fulton’s advice. The pork, marked fresh salt pork, came from Louisville to Charlottesville then Staunton, where it was promptly refrigerated before disposal. The incident was reported to Richmond relief officials.

Mrs. Bettie Pierce Dies at Ridgeway After Illness
Bettie Pierce wife of William H. Pierce died at her Ridgeway West Virginia home at 11 o clock yesterday morning of a heart ailment. Born November 16 1865 she was 68. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at Paynes Chapel Ridgeway with Rev. W W Stevens officiating. Survived by husband four children two sisters and one brother.
