A vast Youghiogheny river tower project in Garrett county Maryland aims to harness water power for western Pennsylvania. The plan, led by Charles B Hawley, envisions a 100000 horsepower outcome with a 700 foot dam and tunnel linking the Youghiogheny Creek to a central plant, costing over 35 million dollars for public service use.

Frederick Maryland November 21 a 38 year old traveling salesman Harry Snyder was held up by three men on the road between Hagerstown and Hancock and robbed of a watch diamond ring 112 in cash and four sample cases. He was en route to Baltimore when the robbers stopped to help him with his car and then held him at gunpoint before escaping.
The Elks stage their Anna Elk Frolic next Monday and Tuesday in Winchester. Major Lewis and Tom Warren headline comedy with J Victor Arthur and Little Bill Schneider in a blackface act. Announcements from Winchester report the marriage of Miss Florence Griffin to Lawson Courtney Carter on September 12 in Covington Virginia. The groom is the brother of Reverend W H Carter, longtime pastor of Winchester’s First Baptist Church, now in Crewe Virginia. The couple will reside at Clifton Forge Virginia after November 25 where the groom is a bookkeeper and auditor for a large firm. Announcement cards were mailed at Pratt West Virginia.
Thomas Volney Purcell of Winchester died at 9 30 PM after long illness. A former grocer and inspector in Freder ick County, he learned tanning and served with Confederate forces making harness leather. Survived by three daughters, a son, a sister, and a widow Martha Copenhaver. Funeral at Centenary Reformed Church followed by burial in Mount Hebron.
Chicago Nov 21. Sears Roebuck announces creation of an agricultural research foundation under Rosenwald to study essential factors in farming. The plan includes assembling top experts in agricultural economics and possibly a mobile field force to cover all phases of farming research.
The apple market remains uneasy as storage stockers face weak export demand and a weaker pound. Export sales are large in quantity but low in value while the domestic market shows little improvement for only high quality apples. Western boxed apples sell near or below production costs, and labor costs have surged, raising overall production expense.

Danville VirginiaNov 20 Dr E H A Miller earned an unusual golf distinction by making two birdies in a single season. With Alec McQueen he drove from the third tee 145 yards landing on the green and a score for the cup. Earlier he sunk a ball in the sixth hole after a 180 yard drive.

He alleges denial of a fair trial and accuses a majority of the court of Ku Klux Klan ties and a conspiracy with the state legislature to remove him from office.
