Glass Plant Beginning November Thirty Near Winchester
A new United States Flat Glass Co plant near Winchester is slated to start about November 28 with completion expected in early spring. Construction will use 50 to 75 local workers, and the firm expects to hire locally. The first plant cost is estimated at 3.5 million dollars with two more plants planned for plate and rough rolled glass. The Arthur W. Schmid Co. of Pittsburgh has the construction contract.

Marquis James a 64 year old Pulitzer prize winning biographer and historian died at his Rye home from a cerebral hemorrhage after previously convalescing from an August attack.
