Child Found Safe After Car Theft in Fairfield
Two year old Ted Plancon, missing since a Thursday car theft, was found unharmed on a Fairfield porch by Mrs. Stephen Sherwood around 7 am. Police say the child was likely removed from the running car by the thief and reached the home while the vehicle was abandoned near Mountain Grove cemetery.

Fires damage two county garages and a chimney blaze
Frederick County fire crews battled two large fires at county garages today. At 6:45 a.m. Stephens City station aided by Middletown firemen fought a furnace room blaze at Scheulen Brothers Garage in Stephens City, with attic, office, and parts areas affected. A Round Hill alarm at 9:05 a.m. involved Stuart Perry’s on Rt 50 but the fire was under control with no damages. A chimney fire at 518 North Kent Street reported around 10:50 a.m. caused only slight damages.

Byrd threatens filibuster over Export-Import Bank amendment
