A man named Leonard Portano killed four people including Myrtle Sanders’s mother and shot two others before fleeing. He bound and killed the Sanders family’s relative, killed Marshall Wilson, and later killed Timmy, the farmer suitor, while Myrtle Sanders remains missing but unharmed. Portano is also wanted in New York for a prior killing.
Roanoke police report former mayor Charles M Broun improved after a Monday night shooting. He was wounded in the head and hand while resisting an armed assailant described as a heavyset negro. two men were arrested for investigation as bloodhounds and officers pursue the suspect.

Upon his death the property is to be sold, Amy Ambrose to receive 500, and the balance to be split equally among the ten children. John A. Hinkle named executor with a $1,900 bond.
Miss Wilda Martin and Dr. John Alton Reed wed two years ago in Baltimore at the Church of the Reformation. The couple kept the marriage secret while Reed trained as a physician and Mrs Reed aided his career in Washington. Both now publically acknowledge the union with no immediate plans announced.
