New Radio Station Opens Here This December
A new independent radio station WHPL will begin operation around December 15 on 610 kilocycles with 500 watts. Edwin R. Fischer of Washington holds the FCC construction permit and will construct two 300 foot towers at Round Hill site two miles north of Route 50. John P. Bell Jr. of Gore will manage the station, with a four person staff and a trailer studio in use during initial broadcasts.

Deputy Sheriff Boyd McDonald traveled to Gran ite Oklahoma to bring Marko An thonio Roggio back for trial. Roggio was indicted in 1955 for rape and armed robbery in an orchard near Stephenson on August 24.
