California's final tally shows President Wilson leading, with minor shifts in several counties as the official count narrows the unofficial lead. The Republican fund-raising figure surpasses 7 million, with McCormick citing over 3 million for Wall Street spending just before the election.
If tomorrow’s forecast is unfavorable the Confederate Monument dedication in Winchester will move to City Hall Auditorium. The unveiling would still occur at the monument but the speech by Harry St George Tucker from Lexington Va and the rest of the program would be in the auditorium. Citizens and Friendship bands will provide music as crowds from Frederick and nearby counties gather for the ceremony and Democratic re election celebrations.
Enthusiasts from Rockbridge Augusta Botetourt and nearby counties meet in Lexington to back extending the Valley Pike from Staunton toward the Tennessee line. Roanoke merchants ride a special train as speakers push building links Staunton to Botetourt county line and a national highway through the valley.

Dr C Alphonso Smith, Poe professor at the University of Virginia, lectured on O Henry's life and works. He traced the Greensboro beginnings, jokes and caricatures, a bank embezzlement conviction, and a rise in New York as the leading short story writer. The tale referenced the Bank in Austin and noted the talk continued on page six.
The funeral of Dr James Ferdinand Gardner of Capon Bridge Hampshire County West Virginia was held at St Johns Church near Taylor Furnace after his death in a Valley Pike automobile crash last Saturday. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery in a service led by St Johns parish. Pallbearers included James B Snapp M Snapp G P Snapp B F Line Isaac B Frye and James Frye. Dr Gardner was grandfather to Waynesboro motorista W Lee Gardner who was injured last summer in Harrisonburg while Eva Hennings of Philadelphia died in a crash nearby.
Rev Dr Alfred Joffes of Kerns town announces home mission services to be held at Kernstown Presbyterian Church tomorrow at 7 30. Round Hill Thursday at 3 o clock and Burnt Church Thursday at 7 30. Lost beagle dog white with brown spots, bounty offered by Star office.
A large Democratic rally for President Wilson and Judge T. W. Harrison in Winchester aims to be the biggest celebration since Cleveland. Harrison, the first Winchester congressman in over fifty years, will be honored alongside Harrison's victory, with plans for a cavalry parade, autos, and prize-winning floats.
Richmond reports the state shows strong support for enforcing new prohibition laws two weeks in effect. Prohibition Commissioner Peters notes 586 volunteers monitoring violations, with 25 reports reviewed. Thirty nine cases sent to grand juries. officials across Virginia enforce the law while a few violators persist.
The Winchester Athletic Club will meet at 8 o clock for important business including pool table installation. Full attendance is urged by Vice President C Yost and Secretary J H Sbar.

Mr Henry A Boyles of Winchester and Miss Bertus E Barr formerly Stephens City now Gaithersburg Md were married yesterday in Washington by Rev W A Wade in a ceremony reported from local county notes.
Mr and Mrs G C Todd and daughter have returned to Washington after visiting Mr and Mrs George Bowly at their West Water Street home. The note ends abruptly with a fragment about someone dying.
Evange list Luther B. Bridgers drew a near full house for the second night of his evangelistic campaign at Market Street Methodist Episcopal Church. He preached on sincerity using Philippians and Paul as examples, praised by ministers for his fifteen years in ministry at age thirty two, with strong singing and a noted duet.
Relatives report the death of Miss Elizabeth Taylor aged ninety at the Cumberland Maryland home of her niece Mrs J B Harper. A native of Winchester she lived many years in Cumberland and was sister to Mrs M B Grim and aunt of Harry M Baker manager of Old Dominion Paper Company. Funeral and interment will be in Cumberland.
Taxpayers are notified that Frederick County 1916 tax bills are prepared. A six percent penalty applies after December 1, 1916. Signed by County Treasurer R. W. Cann with dates November 14, 17, 24, 27, and 28.
Notice lists a tax collection schedule with locations Middletown and Stephens City and dates Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th. R. B. Smith, Deputy Treasurer, signs the notice.
