Salvation Army Expands Work In Winchester Drive
The Salvation Army in Winchester since 1919 will receive about $7 200 from a $30 000 city county Community Chest fund to continue and expand its services for the underprivileged. It provided 415 meals 305 lodgings and 1288 clothing disbursements last year and ran a Christmas basket program for needy families. A summer camp for underprivileged children at White Rock benefited 107 youngsters and the local chapel received over $1000 in improvements.

Boy Dies After Bicycle Collision On Route 522
Ralph Brill, 14, of Albin, died from chest and internal injuries after his bicycle was struck head on by a 1938 Chevrolet driven by Rudolph Martin on U S Route 522 north of Winchester. Eugene Hoover, 16, also of Albin, suffered minor injuries when his bicycle was hit. Hoover rode to Winchester Memorial Hospital. Martin was held on $500 bond for involuntary manslaughter, claiming an approaching car blinded him. Both boys were Miller School eighth graders en route home from a city meeting. Hoover is president of his class. Funeral plans pending.
