News reports declare a decisive victory for the Democratic Party with the president elected and both the Senate and the House of Representatives shifting to Democratic control. Analysts note an unprecedented turnout and broad support across regions.
Roosevelt wins big in nationwide returns with eight electoral votes from the state, Dems take Senate, House seats. Hoover concedes. West Virginia, Wisconsin and Ohio swing heavily for Roosevelt while New York and New Jersey join the Democratic victors.
The Associated Press reports a decisive Democratic victory as Roosevelt gains control of Congress while Hoover loses ground. Republicans suffer heavy losses in Senate and House. anti prohibitionists gain with liquor referenda showing a wet advance in eleven states. Roosevelt may reach a record electoral total.
President elect Franklin D Roosevelt sent a telegram to President Hoover expressing appreciation for the mutual effort toward the nation. In Kentucky Roosevelt led Hoover two to one based on 91 of 4,184 precincts, with 12,625 to 6,641. Senator Robinson urged consideration of repealing or modifying the eighteenth amendment and beer measures in the short Congress. Maryland late returns underscored a sweeping Democratic victory.
Former Governor Harry F Byrd issued a statement from Richmond praising Franklin D Roosevelt victory. He urged restraint optimism and argued Roosevelt will win better relations with Congress and restore responsible government through cooperation between White House and Capitol. He defended Roosevelts campaign and warned against expecting a miracle.

C Ward Carper 43 a Winchester furniture man died this morning at the home of his in law in Millwood avenue after a three week illness. He was born in Winchester and worked in Elwood Pa Johns town Pa and Winchester before moving to Annapolis Md last March then returning to Winchester with his wife and children. He belonged to Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church Southflickery Camp Woodmen of the World and the Friendship Fire Company. He is survived by his widow Miss Elizabeth Carper a daughter and a son and a brother L Irwin Carper. Funeral arrangements not set until tomorrow.
