A blaze at the Jackson Place farm of Clarke county farmer John M. Fishpaw destroyed a 100 foot barn and contents including 40 to 60 tons of hay 300 bushels of barley and 600 to 600 bushels of wheat. The fire caused by a threshing machine box spread rapidly aided by wind with embers igniting nearby fodder and endangering the home. no word on total losses beyond approximately $8000 partly insured.

Fire Destroys Part of Valley Evaporating Company Plant
A fire at the Valley Evaporating Company plant in In wood Berkeley county West Virginia yesterday afternoon wiped out part of the facility. Owner George Halleur of Webster New York with manager John Perrin saw estimated losses between 5000 and 6000 dollars with only about 600 dollars insured. About 35 workers were employed. Winchester firefighters were summoned but told to stand down as the fire was brought under control. One building housing a drying kiln storage and equipment was burned and another building with offices and peelers survived. Evaporated apple stock on hand was largely consumed, valued around 1000 dollars. This site has suffered multiple fires on the same foundation in recent years.
