Harrison Democratic candidate for re election to Congress from the 7th District leads J K Roebush Republican by 5447 with about 4000 majority over Roebush and independent Dabney C Harrison. Davis carries the district to 4493 majority and Dabney Harrison has 1446 votes.
Clinton Herrell of Winchester died at 8 o clock at his home 309 South Market Street after a long illness. He was born 1875 to John L and Margaret Grove Herrell and left a widow Grace D wees tee. He leaves a sister Mae and a brother Major Williams H Herrell. Friends note his industry and public spirit. The Woodmen bell tolled upon the notice of his death.
Benj F Pierce died this morning at the Henry Dinges farm home near Stephens due to infirmities of age. He was a well known churchman who spent most of his life on his old homeplace and had recently boarded at the Gaunt home. He is survived by sister Mrs John Gaunt of Clarke county and a brother Dr J W Pierce who died in Washington years ago. a sister Miss Mary J Pierce also deceased. Funeral at the Gaunt home at 2 p m with interment in Green Hill Cemetery Berryville.
