Resident of South Street Mourns War Loss in France
Wesley Larrick of South Street reports the widowhood of Margaret Larrick McNeal after Corporal James Overton McNeal died of pneumonia in France on October 19. McNeal, in the quartermaster's department, left Camp Lee August 26 and went overseas soon after. He was the son of Samuel M. McNeal of Morefield West Virginia and had planned farming in Hampshire County before the war. He and his wife had been living with her parents on South Washington Street.

The funeral for Mrs Ernest Lonas, who died yesterday of pneumonia, was held this afternoon at 4 30 in Mount Hebron Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev F M Richardson. Mrs Lonas, formerly Miss Fannie M Ker, came from Ohio years ago and lived with Mr and Mrs Jorah Light. She worked at a Winchester mill and is survived by her husband and three children. She was 29.

Friends learn that Mr. Daily Slonaker Ill of this section is at Richmond Col legée Hospital Richmond Virginia suffering from gas exposure in France. He served in the aviation section Signal Corps and contracted pneumonia after gas attack. He was invalided to the United States and sent to College Hospital for recuperation.
