A jury tampering case centering on attorney Gordon is developing with defense motions and courtroom activity. Details remain limited as prosecutors and defense prepare formal filings and inquiries into the alleged interference.
Edward J. Kidwell juror No 11 refuted claims he discussed the case against court orders amid grand jury scrutiny. Mark B. Thompson, Fall defense counsel, testified about a telephone call with A B Fern Jackson as the probe broadened. The grand jury, spurred by oil conspirator charges, plans further action likely in January.
Local moviegoers are invited to see a new Universal release about aviation romance at the Little Win Theatre tonight. The all star Universal cast promises drama and thrills, following Corinne Griffiths recent Empire showing of Three Hours to enthusiastic crowds.

Police recovered two vehicles from the Winchester Drive-Yourself System after they were rented and later not returned. A Ford roadster stolen from Mrs. H. K. Green on South Washington Street led to an arrest near Richmond. the suspect confessed and was committed to Hanover Reformatory School. The Chrysler roadster, stolen September 18, was found in Newark, New Jersey, after William W. Wilson fraudulently financed it with an $800 check drawn on an out of state bank, and fled with the car.
In Paris on November 3 the American Club hosted a luncheon for Miss Elder, called a lovely daring darling of Columbus, with Capt. George W. Haldeman as her co pilot. The event drew a crowded reception and lively praise for the pair. They later flew over Paris from Le Bourget.
Chief Justice Taft told the National Crime Commission that a legislative overhaul of criminal court procedure is needed to speed punishment and deter crime. He cited life imprisonment for repeat offenders as a possible deterrent and emphasized protecting society while aiding rehabilitation.
Baltimore November 3. Charles W P Gens four years old was fined 50 dollars by Magistrate Poehlhaus after being accused of stealing a bouquet of flowers from a grave in Loudon Park Cemetery. Benjamin F Jenkins testified as the complainant.

Virginia and Maryland clash over Potomac River hunting rights with federal involvement. Conference to discuss joint enforcement on a federal patrol boat raises questions as Virginia cites lack of Potomac laws while Maryland requires non resident licenses for out of state hunters.
Snow fell today in Wheeling West Virginia while apple and peat trees were in bloom for the second time this year. Violets were slow to emerge as Tuesday's weather brought early winter glimpses.
District six of the Virginia Education Association will hold a one day session in Harrisonburg attended by over five hundred teachers and school officials. The event closes local schools across Frederick Clarke Warren Rappahannock Page Shenandoah Rockingham Augusta counties and Winchester Harrisonburg Staunton.
Arthur L. Warthen remains in possession of the Warren county treasurer office for about twenty days after the Circuit Court accepted action by his representatives to offer a no bond of 60 000 and to reinstate him pending Virginia Court of Appeals action. The bond was 60 000 with National Surety Company and testimony showed Warthen’s leg injury and limited mobility. This proceeding followed testimony from County Clerk Marvin H. Trout and Gibson Warthen regarding Warthen’s condition and efforts.
A large turnout in the city hall discussed a plan to establish a furniture factory near the city. The project would fund building costs via dividends for five years, with the company later buying back the building. A four acre site near the B and O rail yards is eyed, with timber resources from Trout River Valley driving the venture. Attendees included B and O officials and a district railroad representative.
In New Market Virginia on November 3 Ben Guard the local golf champion won the second leg of the Col E T Brown trophy at Sheavalee defeating Bryan Driver 8 to 2. The trophy goes to the first player to win it three times with Guard already holding one prior win and Everett Zirkle having won once. The third tournament starts next with Guard facing Miller among other pairings.
The House Ways and Means Committee opened discussion on individual income tax rates in Washington on November 3. It heard a wide range of recommendations, many administrative, and set the day aside for debate. The panel indicated possible revision of income levies, perhaps only for higher brackets.

In Lynchburg a three-judge panel upheld Virginia's cedar bust statute as a valid exercise of police power. Daniel Kelleher sought to block enforcement but the suit was dismissed, with Judge H. Clay McDowell dissenting. The decision allows destruction of infected cedars within two miles of an orchard in the relevant district.
Fort McHenry has been occupied by Maryland and District of Columbia prohibition forces. One building serves as a liquor warehouse and administrator John Fr. J. Herbert said all unit activities will move to the historic site.
