Washington November 2 A determined fight to maintain rent controls was signalled by OPA today with disclosure that price is expanding its rental stock. OPA has recruited 200 new rent employees and expects to hire another 400 this month an official said.

A 32 year old Durham man John M McGhee and two Durham Negro accomplices 45 Lee Edward Avant 24 and Jesse Howard Gerald 21 were captured in Chatham Va and held on armed robbery charges connected to the Gretna bank holdup. McGhee arraigned for federal robbery with a $25000 bond and detained in Danville jail. Police recovered about $3100 from Avant and identified McGhee by a Gretna Bank cashier.
Governor William Tuck selects Elliott DeJarnette Marshall Front Royal attorney as interim judge for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit including Frederick and Clarke counties and the Winchester corporation court. Marshall succeeds Burr Harrison who resigned to pursue a House nomination.
