Winchester Frederick and Clarke County voters will get identical ballots listing 13 names for state officials. Winchester residents will receive a second ballot for city offices. Frederick man sentenced to 20 years for first degree murder

Longest air hijack ends with youth captured near Rome

New Robert E Ayler Junior High Prepares for Opening
Last minute preparations are underway to open the Robert E Ayler Junior High School on Monday at 8 55 a m. Principal John H Lewis Jr and assistant principal Joseph H Fisher Jr oversee construction crews as work continues through the weekend. Enrollment is planned at 892 students in grades seven through nine with 43 faculty members plus the two administrators. Hard surfacing of the parking area and sidewalk work is nearly done while classrooms and the kitchen cafeteria and several areas will be ready. The gym and some facilities remain unfinished.
