Miss Mooney of Raleigh North Carolina spends a pleasant afternoon at John Komsa's colonial estate near Hayfield. The 491 acre property features a small lake that attracts visitors and offers a scenic spot on the grounds.
The United States aims to resume nuclear tests with a neutron death ray bomb as the prime goal, a New York Journal-American report claims. It says the device would kill without widespread destruction, a notion tied to early test discussions.

Anoka Minnesota experienced a deadly Halloween parade disruption when a car driven by a dying man struck the rear of the procession. Eight people were hospitalized and many more hurt as police found Otto Erickson, 76, dead in the vehicle near a mortuary.
Frederick County will close all schools on Friday as teachers attend the Virginia Education Association meeting in Richmond and observe college programs at Harrisonburg. Other staff will conduct workshops and work in their schools.

Earl Cather resigns effective today after 14½ years to enter private business. He will run Cather's Farm Market, three miles west of Winchester on Rt. 50. W. J. Whitmore says ward ens from adjoining counties will cover Frederick County until a successor is named.
