The Edmonds party vehicle was registered to Evylin Haines of 431 North Cameron street. Funeral services for Fries will be Thursday.
The case of Carl Beavers and James Jewell, youthful convicts charged with the slaying of Ralph Clinewell near Winchester, is set in Frederick Circuit Court for Monday December 5. Beavers 20 and Jewell 19 allegedly admitted the crime with a pick and sledge in a Sunny Side shed as they prepared to return to their camp on Route 7. A motive is cited as a failed escape attempt and a claim that Clinewell betrayed them. Witness John Fritts, also at the prison camp, has been pardoned.

The Supreme Court may decide if the Roosevelt administration will ask Congress to submit a new child labor amendment to the states. If deemed not dead, eight more states must approve. otherwise the administration can rely on the wage hour act or seek new congressional action. The act bars interstate commerce of goods made by oppressive child labor, defined as under 16 or 16 to 18 in hazardous jobs per the children's bureau.
The Fellowship Club of Winchester and Frederick County plans an eighth yearly effort to aid less fortunate families. In 1937 they helped 361 families and 1,416 individuals. A master list by county welfare and Red Cross groups avoids duplication. No funds drive. needs will be publicized.
