A military court at Fort Sam Houston opens with 63 Negro soldiers of the 3rd Battalion 24th Infantry charged with murder and mutiny. Death by hanging or firing squad expected for those convicted, linked to the August 23 Houston raid that left 28 dead. 75 more from the same battalion face lesser charges in El Paso.
Mrs H Clay Krebs of West Piccadilly Street announces the marriage of her daughter Miss Nancy L Krebs to Mr P M Chandler of Philadelphia. The ceremony was at the Presbyterian Church Winchester at 10 30 am conducted by Rev Dr J H Lacy in a small family gathering. The couple will spend November at Hot Springs Virginia and reside after December 1 at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia. Mrs F L Harris, chair of Frederick County Girls Canning Club, was chosen as judge for Clarke County Girls Canning Club exhibits at the Battletown Inn Berryville. She traveled to Berryville for two days to view Clarke County work and display Frederick County pieces, and was surprised by the Clarke County agent Lora Stinson’s request.
