The pair battled heavy fog to complete their sea voyage from Newfoundland with most of the crossing in clear conditions. favorable tail winds aided passage and they intend to push on to continue their journey.
The French pilots Paul Codes and Maurice Rossi left Paris at dawn and neared Floyd Bennett Field by midafternoon amid reports of minor trouble. They push toward San Diego on a 6100 mile Paris to California flight, navigating fog from the Nova Scotia coast as officials prepared Floyd Bennett for a possible landing.
The Retail Grocers Association and Proctor and Gamble Co organized a Saturday parade through the business district to promote a Plymouth automobile prize contest. Ten new Plymouth cars were displayed and driven in, with drivers including Miss Virginia Huntsberry and Edna Lamb. The procession, led by Hoye L. Three Stephens City area pedestrians were hit by automobiles over the weekend. Jack O Neal, 19, was found semiconscious along Valley Pike and later hospitalized with serious head and body wounds from a hit and run. Alice Campbell and Sallie Dean, aged about 60 and 70, were injured crossing Main Street near Lemley’s store. Campbell remains hospitalized, Dean was taken to a local home.
The Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South holds its regular quarterly conference at 8 pm with Rev. Dr William F. Locke presiding. The Loudoun Circuit meeting occurred Saturday at Paris church, and Locke preached yesterday at Braddock Street in pastor Rev. Dr. Hubert Sydenstricker’s absence.
