New York stock trading opened near yesterday’s peak with 600000 shares changing hands in the first hour. Rails showed strength alongside shipping, United States Steel slipped 1.25 points as earnings forecasts circulated. Motors oils gains continued and International Paper and food shares led the rally among specials. Large lots of 43.4 percent Victory loan bonds traded between 99.94 and 99.88.
