A man collected the cash in Sydney in two blue suitcases after a ransom note and an artist’s drawing circulated. Veteran Held in Slaying of Father in Virginia
A 23 year old Vietnam veteran with two Army combat tours is held on a murder charge in Hanover County for the baseball bat and knife slaying of his father John W. Lewis a 42 year old retired Navy veteran and pharmacology research assistant. The attack left his wife Jean Redmond Lewis with hand cuts as she tried to stop the knife. Three other children fled the home during the incident. The elder Lewis worked at A H Robins Co in Richmond. No motive has been released.
