Tornado Toll 115 As Ruins Yield Additional Victims

Rubble piles in Udall Kansas yielded more bodies as the toll from deadly tornadoes rose to 115 dead and over 700 injured. In Udall 74 killed, 12 more bodies found. five killed at Oxford. Oklahoma Texas Missouri fatalities reported with counties braced for floods.

Blandy Farm Hay Barracks Destroyed by Fire

Fire of unknown origin leveled a hay barracks and its two year old hay at Blandy Experimental Farm Boyce around 5 p m. Yesterday. John Enders Fire Company Berryville extinguished flames saving a nearby sheep barn and other structures. No estimate of damage was available as Dr. Walter Flory was in Charlottesville.

Clarke County teen wins Star Leadership Award

Kathryn Bell 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Bell of Berryville, wins Clarke County s Leadership Award from The Winchester Star. She will receive 350 dollars at Clarke County High School June 6 during commencement. Bell plans to attend Richmond Professional Institute in September to study retailing and fashion design.

Frederick County sees automotive spending reach 12 million dollars yearly with filling stations netting 3.589 million.
