In Bombay on May 27 police suppressed new Moslem rioting in the Vhendi district firing into a mob and injuring seven. A police sergeant was wounded, and crowds menaced the police and military until Moslem leaders pacified the rioters. Traffic resumed after two hours as military patrols held entrances to the city.
Musetta B. Jenkins widow of John S. Jenkins died yesterday morning at 8 at her daughter’s Gainesboro home after a sudden heart attack. Aged 66, she leaves six daughters including Mrs. Roy Teets and Mrs. Floyd Pitcock, plus a brother Scott Owens and five sisters. Funeral Thursday at 3 from Mrs. Pitcock’s home conducted by Rev. Dr. Murray D. Mitchell. Interment Mount Hebron Cemetery.
The S M A Cadet Band of Staunton Military Academy, 46 musicians under Major Thomas Beardsworth, will give a free concert on the County Court House lawn at 8 pm tonight. It will be their last public appearance in the city and invites the public to attend.
A detailed itinerary covers baccalaureate by Bishop Robert E. Lee Strider at Trinity Church and a week of cadet events at Staunton Military Academy starting June 1. Highlights include dress parades, battalion reviews, guard mounts, a senior hop, and final exercises led by Hon. David I. Walsh with school officers named.

Secretary Adams reversed a Naval Operations ruling blocking a navy tug from aiding Rear Admiral Byrd aboard the City of New York. Byrd said the tug was offered too late and the bark was being moved to the Canal Zone by the Eleanor Boling. Byrd asked that the tug be available after the bark passed through the canal. The Navy had previously refused help due to a policy against assisting privately owned ships unless in distress.
President Hoover signed the Williamson bill authorizing transfer of prohibition enforcement from the Treasury to the Department of Justice on July 1.

Plans were made for Decoration Day on Friday May 30 at the National Cemetery by the Ladies Memorial Association with Robert Y Conrad Post Am Legion. More than 5 000 soldiers rest there and flowers may be left with the cemetery superintendent for grave decorations on the day.
The Fifth Maryland Regiment, once headquarters guard for General Washington, will send a provisional battalion to Boston Saturday for the city's centennial celebration. As a member of the Centennial Legion, Maryland will march with an original thirteen-star flag and the Washington headquarters pennant alongside national and state flags.

Mrs. Hollar, widow of Witenes, slipped in the living room at 360 National avenue, fracturing her hip. Her children discovered her on return for dinner about six, and she was taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital where X rays confirmed the fracture and doctors planned to prevent pneumonia.
The Virginia Classis of the Reformed Church votes to hold two regular sessions annually, one in spring and one in autumn. The first meeting under the new schedule will be at Centenary Reformed Church Winchester in early October, with Rev. Dr. S. L. Flickinger and Winchester committee arranging details. A rule aligned the church year with the calendar year for fiscal matters and mandated two annual classis meetings.
A marriage license was issued in Winchester for Maynard Catlett aged 19 to Mrs Maggie McKee 35 a widow. The bridegroom's mother Mrs Minnie Oates gave consent to the underage marriage. Catlett is a son of the late John Catlett and a laborer. The bride is James Whitlock's daughter.
Eleven student nurses representing three states received diplomas at Winchester Memorial Hospital. The ceremony at Loudoun Street Presbyterian Church featured Rev. Francis A. Brown and included music, speeches, and the Florence Nightingale oath. Recipients listed include Mary Cochran, Elizabeth Snyder, Arlene Strickler, Leonane Sparrow, and others from Winchester, Front Royal, Summit Point, and San Francisco.
The S. M. A. team defeated Winchester Park Association 3 to 0 in yesterday’s game which ended early to avoid a forfeiture. Tomorrow at 2 o clock Winchester fields its best local players with players from nearby towns aiming for a notable exhibition. The Winchester battery was not confirmed at press time.

The Sarah Zane Fire Company carnival begins on City Hall Plaza and Rouss avenue and runs nightly through Saturday June 7 to raise funds for a new hall on North Loudoun Street. Only some booths open first night. more will debut as setup completes. A torchlight parade is planned Friday at 7 30 led by the Winter Concert Band and Rouss Fire Company with guests from surrounding towns. Three silver trophies will be awarded at the Sample Shoe Store for distance, best appearance, and largest company participation.
Rick Weathers, a colorfully described man, testified in police court that a drink mixed with aspirin and moonshine left him violently drunk and exhibiting mania at a dance. He allegedly threw bricks and people, damaged property, and was jailed for 60 days on the state road to recover.
Hammond, La May 27 Dr S L Newsom a prominent Hammond physician was tarred and feathered by a mob early today then expelled from an automobile near the city center. He was ordered to leave by daylight and departed at 5 am in an unnamed car. Newsom formerly lived in Mississippi and had a large practice in the surrounding countryside with many female patients.
Woodstock resident Samuel E. Day will become sergeant as the motorized State police force reorganizes effective June 15. State Vehicle Commissioner Frazier advances plans to expand the patrol to seventy five men in June under the recent legislative act.
