Eugene votes to repeal gay rights ordinance
In Eugene Oregon final unofficial returns show 22 898 for repeal and 13 427 against the cities gay rights ordinance. The measure followed similar actions in Wichita and St Paul with varying margins. Supporters vow continued fight for protections as activists note about 40 communities still have bans in jobs and housing.

Parachutist killed during TV commercial shoot in Indiana
Griffith AP reports a skydiver died when his parachute failed to open after a midair collision with another jumper about 20 miles east of Griffith Indiana during a television commercial filming. The victim Kevin Shea 28 of Chicago was identified by coroner Albert Willardo. The other jumper Joseph Wielgosz 24 of Winnipeg was injured and hospitalized.
