Washington May 25 The White House said the President is ready to modify the order authorizing federal employment of state officers in prohibition enforcement if it proves oppressive. Senator Walsh of Montana defended its legality while Representative Hill of Maryland introduced a resolution to bar federal officers from holding state positions.

The Thos. Herbert Stock Company known as the Wardman Park Players opened at the Colonial Theatre with Some Baby and drew a large Winchester audience. The company, fresh from the Wardman Park Hotel Theatre, will perform three nights a week through summer and then return to Wardman Park in fall.
