Lightning Likely Cause Of Wright Denney School Fire
Charles Town fire officials and school officials say a thunderstorm lightning struck the Wright Denney Elementary School causing a 5:35 p.m. fire that collapsed the roof and damaged the upper floors. Approximately 100 firemen battled the blaze with no injuries reported. The brick four story school, about 60 years old, housed around 620 pupils and will be closed for the rest of the term with a relocation plan to be decided by Monday.
