King George and Queen Elizabeth travel westward aboard the royal pilot train from Toronto to White River amid a near freezing day. Communities along the rail line greet them with flags, bunting, and a 25 piece Chapleau band as the 12 car special journeys through plains country.
Queen Mary, widow of King George V, escaped serious injury after her car overturned in Putney, London, when it collided with a two ton truck. A bulletin from Marlborough House says she suffers bruising and shock but remained calm as she was helped from the car and driven to safety.
Chairman Madden told the House Labor Committee that AFL affiliated locals filed far more cases with the Labor Relations Board than CIO unions in the first quarter, denying Board partiality toward CIO and criticizing proposed Wagner Act changes. He cited ongoing AFL CIO tensions and noted AFL unions filed 717 cases while CIO unions resorted to strikes if justice seemed blocked.
The second annual Music Festival presented by Frederick County public school students will be held on May 31. The venue is not announced yet, with last year at Winchester Park. organizers seek a larger auditorium for possible bad weather.

It accuses picketing mobs, blockades, threats and violence tied to the 1937 strike impacting plants across multiple states and halting rail and vessel operations.
Felix M. McWhirter Indianapolis banker and Indiana Republican treasurer tells a House committee his inquiries about Mrs Cordell Hull’s Jewish blood were for his own information. He also asked James E. Campbell about Alfred M. Landon and William Allen White’s Jewish connections. He confirms he sought the information for personal knowledge.
W L Brann trainer announces Challedon winner of the Preakness will start June 17 in the Dwyer Stakes at Aqueduct. The plan follows Frederick Maryland base.
Miss Ann Kerr Russell of Shenandoah will represent the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival at the Seventh Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival in Kentville Nova Scotia. She travels with two Shenandoah officials and is sponsored by Eastern Steamship Lines and local sponsors for a goodwill tour via New York Boston and Yarmouth.
Mrs. H. D. Fuller, president of the District Nurse Association, said Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Taylor of Curtis Publishing Company are the only two subscription solicitors in the area who rebate to the association on business. They do not take money from subscribers. Western Union handles collections and provides receipts, then the company gives a substantial percentage to the association. No other agents are authorized to claim they solicit for the District Nurse Association.
Secretary Wallace told the American Retail Federation that capital remains shell shocked after the 1920s boom with war alarms in Europe and widespread timidity. He urged renewed investment by private sector or with government aid to spur recovery and pledged government role. He also expressed hope farmers will celebrate renewed business confidence.

About 5 000 to 5 625 miners are covered or pending contracts while Harlan Wallins and Darby pits restart operations under troop supervision.
Louis E. Kirstein, chairman of the American Retail Federation, outlines a ten point program of cooperation with consumers, government, farmers and labor. The plan was drafted by the resolutions committee for the federation’s first national forum in Washington.
Joseph P. Selly vice president of the American Communications Association told a Senate Interstate Commerce sub committee that Western Union and Postal Telegraph planned a merger in violation of the Sherman Anti Trust Act and urged a Senate inquiry into the telegraph industry.
